CBT
(with a dash of psychodynamic theory)

The more traditional option for your treatment is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a widely researched and empirically supported practice that addresses core beliefs, automatic thoughts, and their relationship to how we feel and behave. CBT is a practical here-and-now approach aimed at helping you pay better attention to your thoughts in order to change the way you feel and act. Often our core values and beliefs are shaped very early in life and it is helpful to make connections between the past and present in order to release old wounds and find new ways to help us going forward. Looking at how early experiences shape us tends to fall under psychodynamic theory, which I weave into therapy. CBT is a very relational approach, a traditional “talk therapy.” Training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) informs my methods of establishing core skills and incorporating mindfulness practices.
